Can I Install ivySCI on Drive D or a Custom Location?

Currently, ivySCI can only be installed on Drive C. The installation size is relatively small and won't consume much space. You can change the cache directory in the settings to any location with write permissions.

Chinese Document Metadata Not Recognized

Currently, the recognition of Chinese document metadata is not perfect, and some documents may not be recognized. You can supplement it through the desktop version of ivySCI using Chinese search. The process is simple: input the title and find the corresponding document.

Need to Reload Every Time I Open the Desktop App

This occurs because your system prevents the program from creating a desktop shortcut during installation. You can create it manually:

  1. Open the following path in File Explorer: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Programs\ivysci-desktop-app
  2. Locate ivysci.exe.
  3. Right-click and select 'Send to' -> 'Desktop.'

How to Take Cross-Page Notes

Cross-page notes are supported but are a bit complicated. Follow these steps:

  1. Select the translation panel on the right side of the document reading interface.
  2. Hold down Shift and select the text.
  3. At the bottom of the translation panel, you will find an option to create a note. Click to create.

This is a workaround, and we plan to improve this process in the future.

Text Appears Blurry on Win11

This is due to hardware acceleration issues on some Win11 devices. You can disable hardware acceleration in the settings. A restart is required after disabling.

Uploading Supplementary Materials

Supplementary materials and main files usually share the same DOI, which can prevent both from being uploaded simultaneously. Follow these steps:

  1. First, upload the main file. If supplementary materials are already uploaded, delete them first.
  2. Open the main file and find the location of the supplementary materials, as shown below:

How to Name Projects?

Click here, and you can also export project data from this location.

How to Export and Delete Data?

You can export the entire project, including PDFs, notes, and references data. The export option is shown below:

To delete data, make sure you clear the data within the project first. You can do this by selecting the data in the literature management section and then clearing it.

Adding Supplementary Materials

Supplementary materials should not be uploaded as separate files but should be uploaded after the main file. Follow these steps:

  1. Upload the main PDF file first.
  2. Once the main file is uploaded, open the PDF, and in the figures/materials section, upload the supplementary materials as shown below:

  1. Done. If you've uploaded supplementary materials through other means, delete them first; otherwise, the main file may not upload.

Blank Screen When Opening WeChat

This is likely due to your network provider blocking the domain ivysci.com. If you encounter this issue, update your DNS server to Alibaba DNS. Instructions
