# Main Features

# Main Interface

The literature management module provides important indicators such as the title, author, journal, journal impact (JI), publication year, importance, and notes of the literature. As shown in the figure below:

main function

Users can sort the literature based on various fields. The journal impact (JI) is sorted based on the size of JI, not the alphabetical order of the journal. JI is similar to the Impact Factor (IF) provided by Sci-Weave, with similar calculation methods but possibly with some differences in specific numbers.

The notes of the literature will only be displayed if the user has added them; otherwise, they will not be shown.

On the literature management page, clicking on the title of a literature will display all the information, including the DOI and abstract. ivySCI also provides translation for titles and abstracts, which will be explained in the following section.

If a title is translated, it will be directly displayed on the main interface.

# Title and Abstract Translation

Title Translation

By using title translation, even for lengthy English titles, we can quickly and easily understand the content of the literature.

We also provide translation for abstracts, helping you quickly grasp the full text.

# Batch Copying, Migration, and Sharing

Batch

Through batch operations, users can copy, migrate, and share literature in bulk. Copying means making a copy of the literature to another project (the literature will still be retained in this project). Migration means moving the literature from this project to another project (the literature will no longer be retained in this project). Sharing means sharing the selected literature with other users for easy import. The shared literature includes PDFs, but not comments.

Note: When migrating, you may find that even though the migration has been executed, there are still literature remaining in the project. This is because these literature already exist in the target project and will not be duplicated during migration.

# Deleting or Migrating Literature

Delete

If you no longer need a literature, you can click on the "..." on the right side of the literature and select "Delete" from the pop-up menu to delete it. You can also migrate the literature to another project. Please note that deleted literature cannot be recovered temporarily and will be permanently deleted. In particular, if you delete a PDF literature, we do not provide a backup for the PDF. When you delete it, the PDF will also be removed from your data records. However, just in case, we still retain the notes for the PDF. So, if you re-upload the original PDF, the notes will be restored.

# Modifying Literature Information (Meta)

For most standard PDF literature, ivySCI can automatically recognize the literature's meta information.

If the recognition is incorrect or manual modification of the literature information is required, please open the literature. Use one of the three methods below to supplement the literature information.

# CNKI Supplement

CNKI Supplement

For Chinese literature, we can use the CNKI supplement method.

We mainly use the title for retrieval, so before searching for literature on CNKI, please copy the title of the literature in the left panel of the literature, and then select Chinese literature in the literature information panel on the right side of the article reading page. Click on "Go to Query" to open CNKI.

In the pop-up CNKI page, we have already filtered the literature to a small number through some search conditions, but there may still be many similar literature. In this case, you can use the search function provided by CNKI to further narrow down the search range by author or journal.

After finding the corresponding article, click on "Import" to supplement the meta information of the literature.

# DOI or Title Supplement

For English literature, please use the DOI or title from the literature to supplement. After finding the literature based on the DOI or title, the system will automatically replace the meta information.

DOI Supplement

# Manual Modification

Meta Modification

At the bottom of the literature information, there is an "Edit" button. When opened, it will display all the literature information. Here, you can manually supplement the information (of course, you can also supplement it through DOI search or CNKI query).

Usually, manual editing is used to modify simple information such as page numbers, volume, etc., or when the system fails to recognize it.

# Cloud Sync

Under the same account, the data on iPad and desktop are synchronized in real-time. On the iPad homepage, you can synchronize data by pulling down to refresh.

We currently do not consider launching an offline version that is not synchronized. Researchers' work is often in full swing, with most of their time spent on reading and writing papers. When not writing papers, they are preparing to write papers. We often suddenly find that a literature is on another computer and we need to download it temporarily. If we are traveling and connecting to the campus network through a VPN, the network may be unstable, and it sometimes takes more than 20 minutes to download a literature. Downloading it just to find one or two references can be frustrating.

ivySCI understands the dilemma of researchers. We synchronize researchers' data in real-time and store their papers and notes in the cloud. Through multiple data centers worldwide, we provide researchers with fast and secure access, allowing them to read papers anytime, anywhere.

To ensure the security of researchers' data, ivySCI has deployed multiple layers of data security protection. We ensure the security of researchers' data through delayed backups, storage in multiple data centers, and strict encryption.

If you are concerned about data security, please regularly export your data under project management.
