Installation of IvyCite

Supported Versions of Word for IvyCite

  1. Word 2019 and later versions
  2. Word 365

Note that the Mac version of Word theoretically supports IvyCite, but the add-in is not supported on MacOS 10.14 (released in 2018) and earlier versions. This is unrelated to the Word version and requires upgrading the operating system.

If you receive a notification in Word 365 stating that the administrator has disabled the operation, you will need to switch to an unrestricted version of Word and reinstall Word (not the add-in). We recommend contacting the seller for assistance.

Unable to Install IvyCite on Word or Prompted with Cannot Open Error

Please follow the troubleshooting steps below:

  1. Disable any proxies and verify the system proxy settings.
  2. Quit Word completely, not just close the current document.
  3. Install using the online method for Word. Note: When selecting the country, China is not listed as an option, so please choose any other country).
  4. After installation, Word will automatically open. Check if IvyCite is functional.

Online Installation of Word

You can try the online installation method first:

  1. Close Word and exit completely.
  2. Visit the Microsoft AppSource online store: https://appsource.microsoft.com/en-us/product/office/WA200002694
  3. Click "Get it Now" (or "Open in Word" or similar).
  4. Log in and provide the necessary information.

Please ensure that your account has a name (Family/Given).

Unable to Log in After Add-in Installation

Please sign out from the homepage of Word and then reopen Word. After signing out, Word should appear as follows when opened:

Continuous Display of "IvyCite is loading"

This issue may occur when Word's built-in browser prevents our program from running under certain rare conditions. Please follow the steps below:

  1. Close Word and all your browsers.
  2. Type "cmd" in the system search bar and press Enter. A black command prompt window will appear.
  3. Copy the code below, paste it into the command prompt window opened in step 2, and then press Enter: icacls %userprofile%\Appdata\LocalLow /t /setintegritylevel (OI)(CI)L
  4. Reopen Word, and it should work now.

Add-in Appears Grayed Out After Installation

This occurs when your document is in the .doc format. The .doc format does not support the add-in, so please save it as .docx.

Installation and Issues with WPS Add-gin

Installation steps:

  1. Download the WPS add-gin installation package: install.zip
  2. Extract the package and open the install.html file using Chrome/Edge/Firefox browser.
  3. After seeing the successful installation message, open WPS.
  4. Wait a moment, and you will see a new IvyCite menu. Click on it to log in.

Important Notes:

  1. If WPS cannot be installed, please upgrade to the latest version.

  2. WPS is only supported on Windows and does not support Mac (the Mac version of WPS does not have a add-in).

  3. Do not use IE or 360 browsers during installation (important: 360 browser will definitely not open).

  4. If WPS freezes after scanning the QR code and logging in, you need to manually update WPS. Uninstall it first, then reinstall the latest version of WPS.
